Wolfgang Felber received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering in 2002 and his doctoral degree Dr.-Ing. in 2006 from Helmut-Schmidt-University - University of Federal armed Forces Hamburg. After leaving the armed forces he joined Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS (non-commercial society for applied research) in 2009 at the project group DVT Ilmenau (wireless distribution systems and digital broadcasting) working on MANETs (mobile ad hoc networks) and SOTM-Systems (satellite communication on the move) as scientist and later as group manager (2011) and deputy head of project group (since 2012). Since 2014 he moved to Nuremberg as Head of Department and since 2015 he is head of Business Field Localization. Business Field Localization contains of over 70 scientists in almost 10 technology programs/fields working on indoor and outdoor localization technologies based on WiFi, BLE, 5G ,RFID , GNSS, Radar and proprietary technologies and is part of one of seven divisions (division Localisation and Networking) of Fraunhofer IIS with actually over 1000 scientists.
