Philipp Niemietz got his Master in computer science at the RWTH Aachen University in 2017. Originally, he specialized in theoretical computer science, namely complexity theory, but during his work as a student research assistant at FiR e.V. at RWTH Aachen he discovered his passion for the Industrial Internet of Things. Therefore, he started to work at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University at the chair for manufacturing technologies of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bergs in the research group for forming technologies. One of his research fields is the Digital Twin of manufacturing machines and processes, with a focus on the fine blanking process, and its applications. Currently, he aims to build a thorough and complete digital twin of each component involved this process. In the course of his reseach in the area of Digital Ledger Technologies in manufacturing and production environments he is responsible for the WZL IOTA Proof of Concept for secure audit trails.
